Become a Windmill Ambassador- We are always looking for people to spread their enthusiasm for the Little Chute Windmill. You will learn everything there is to know about the Windmill Project, and use your knowledge to educate the community at special events and festivals.
Miller- Miller responsibilities include:
Turning the sails into the wind and regulating the sails.
Watching the weather.
Notifying the Director when grain must be ordered, when the millstones need sharpening and when the channels need re-carving.
Getting wheat from the storage loft to the grinding loft.
Operating the windmill and grinding grain into flour.
Sacking flour and returning it to the ground floor.
Monitoring the quality of the wheat.
Ensuring the safe operation of the Windmill.
Qualifications:
A willingness to learn about the mechanics of the Windmill and its architecture and develop a rudimentary knowledge of aerodynamics.
A willingness to study and understand the Windmill operations manual.
Must possess sufficient strength to lift 50-pound bags of wheat and flour.
Tour Guide- Tour Guide responsibilities include:
Greeting visitors.
Guiding visitors through the Windmill and providing information on the history of windmills, windmill operation and the grain grinding process.
Answering questions about the Windmill, the Dutch history of Little Chute and other points of interest in the Fox Cities region.
Returning visitors to the visitor center.
Helping visitors who need assistance.
Ensuring visitor safety during the tours.
Host or Hostess- Host / Hostess responsibilities include:
Greeting and welcoming all visitors and directing them to locations within the visitor center.
Answering questions and providing information.
Assisting visitors in the gift shop.
Providing assistance at special events
Providing general assistance.
